May 26, 2021 at 3:57 pm QSB 380 always 176 Deg. @2,000RPM. I have Borel exhaust alarms but I was wondering if itā€™s a good idea to have an actual water pressure gauge. I always had them on my outboard and they were a great way of seeing trouble before itā€™s costly. I am 150 hours on my impeller and will change it out this week. I put a gauge on the 1/4ā€ npt outlet port on the top of my Sherwood pump for testing. I got 4lb at idle and 13lb at 1,800 rpm. I donā€™t know if th…

December 27, 2020 at 2:58 pm Sounds like either a bad SIM Module or a bad physical harnessing connection… that’s where I would start

October 4, 2020 at 8:35 am I want to hook up a water pressure alarm. It would be ideal if I had a 12v key on source at the engine. Much easier then running up to the helm. Alarm would draw less then 1 amp. Is there a location or HermĆØs connection available on the engine ? Smartcraft gauge and harness 2008.

July 14, 2019 at 5:52 pm Can someone review my data sheet. I almost always run my boat at 2000RPM . But it is burning more fuel then the Cummins graph shows it should. I donā€™t care as it it very efficient but I do not want to do any long term damage. I donā€™t know if you can actually get an engine to burn the exact amount across the board. My data is very accurate and hardly changes with load and Sea condition. Is this typical ? 450 hour engine, all gauges are within s…

July 26, 2019 at 2:58 am Got to be realistic as he is running so far below the top, the engine wonā€™t care.. Look at the 300 MCD curve.. Same exact engine.

October 26, 2018 at 5:48 pm I finally got around to installing jog steering in my Downeaster. I used an Octopus variable piston pump, a reversing relay and 2 HD soft switches. The pump output is adjustable. I have it set for 11 seconds full sweep. Seems to work as planned.

Yes itā€™s tough when you have to compete with a nice lever like Tony put up. All in one. Itā€™s alway nice to have the ability to make your own and watch it work. Another question for tony. Why the two pumps with the accusteer pump setup?

September 18, 2018 at 5:01 pm My off season project is to install jog steering in my Downeaster. I looked at Tonyā€™s set up . I talked to Kobelt and they suggested a continuous duty CPU-100 pump. The math would give me a 4 sec. full stroke with that pump. I think this might be a better choice then a reversible pump. Iā€™m aware the amp draw is higher but I can handle that. I do not have auto pilot and do not want it at this point. Any thoughts on this would help. The pump,is…

September 20, 2018 at 9:08 am From what I can see, that is a very heavy duty adjustable pump that will serve you well… everything is built in to the design including solenoid control, passive steering input and power out. I think you will be very happy with it. Never used one yet, but we may have to add that pump series to our lineup!

    • QSB exhaust-out with the old

January 14, 2018 at 4:23 pm I took the sound advice from this forum. I removed the stock Cummins exhaust and had a new custom shower head made. Now all the water is down stream. The old exhaust came off and looked new with no corrosion anywere, but I plan on keeping this boat for a long time so I thought it was best to avoid future problems. The water hose is close to turbo heat so I will adjust that next.

March 12, 2018 at 6:20 pm Gotcha. BTW, the Borel bands temperature setpoint is 167 deg F, atleast that was what the prior bands were.

    • Qsb 380 oil temp.

November 3, 2017 at 4:44 pm I have read the spec sheet here and it shows oil temp 260 deg. Max { sump }. My smart craft shows I am running at no more then 249 deg. On warmup I see it climb past a bit then drop to 240 then creep up again to 249. Is there a thermostat opening at that point? Is this normal or too close. My pressure and water temp are normal. Also what do they mean by sump? Thanks ahead.
