    • Qsb-380 Coolant loss

January 2, 2019 at 3:40 am I am on my second full year of ownership of a 390 sundancer. I’ve noticed a small loss of coolant on the expansion bottle with no visible leaks, oil clean without any moisture. I remember reading that it could be a problem with the turbo gaskets or cracks. I am ordering parts for my after coolers now and would like to address this issue now. The after coolers were never serviced, one a total loss, one rebuildable

March 24, 2019 at 6:32 am I have removed my intercoolers for the first time and found one to be totally unserviceable and I’m hoping the second will pass the leak test. What is is pressure used on the core and do I need to test the fully assembled unit too? I believe the replacement unit has been modified to the Seaboard standards already and doesn’t need to be greased

March 26, 2019 at 6:06 am 20 PSI is fine………Pits inside the cooler housing do not matter–Only the flat sealing surface ( on each end) after block sanding…….. Our coolers come pre-greased and are good for 2 years or so before you need to service it again if in seawater.. If you fresh water flush diligently when at the dock, you can easily double the service time interval. Tony

November 26, 2017 at 6:15 am I Performed an oil change on QSB 5.9 engines 10 days ago. The boat is new to me since July. The oil sample were no longer available the day I went to do the service so I have dated oil in my garage. I think a bench mark is important but is it too late to get a meaningful analysis at this late date?

November 27, 2017 at 6:21 am IMO just send it in as-is but you can check with the labs on your concerns prior to sending it in.

May 29, 2017 at 8:10 am I am between buying either a 2005 or a 2006 sundancer, both with Qsb 380s I was told they didn’t have the quiet idling common rail fuel system until 2006. Is there any difference in these engines? I can’t find anything to support this claim This would be my first diesel boat
