I have removed my intercoolers for the first time and found one to be totally unserviceable and I’m hoping the second will pass the leak test. What is is pressure used on the core and do I need to test the fully assembled unit too? I believe the replacement unit has been modified to the Seaboard standards already and doesn’t need to be greased

20 PSI is fine………Pits inside the cooler housing do not matter–Only the flat sealing surface ( on each end) after block sanding……..

Our coolers come pre-greased and are good for 2 years or so before you need to service it again if in seawater.. If you fresh water flush diligently when at the dock, you can easily double the service time interval.

Tony I sent a pic of my good cooler bundle in a fixture ready for air pressure. 25psi
The second bundle and housing was badly the corroded and pitted

I recently bought a new unit from you and I asked if it was greased at your shop before I received it. My understanding is it has been

Exactly how you you Plan on testing it and what exactly are you testing ? The core, the housing, or the assemble unit?

Post good pics off all — I want to “SEE” what you see..

    William,
Unless the aftercooler on your engine uses a different sealing method than mine (mine uses 2 O rings – one each top and bottom), then you are relying on these o ring seals to keep water out of the air side of the engine. Therefore, pressure testing the entire assembled unit is critical (IMHO). Test to about 25 psi. for several hours (up to 24 hours).
    Good luck,
    Tom

I bought a new unit from you, so do I need to grease the gaskets or has it been done already?
I need to know what pressure to use when testing my old cooler bundle

All housings & cores need greased and assembled per my protocol each time are are serviced.. Not sure what you mean by your statement “has been modified to the Seaboard standards already and doesnā€™t need to be greased”.. Maybe is was recently purchased from US and installed ( like within the last year)??

As to the other one–Post good pics off all..
