January 10, 2020 at 3:18 am Hi I have the 6CTA8.3-M2 and am trying to clarify the GPH at 2200 revs. I don’t have a table like attached for the M3 version. Should I be aiming for the same, 13.6 as shown? Thanks in advance Tony
2 RepliesJanuary 10, 2020 at 3:49 pm Hi Tony Thanks heaps. I think I am just too cautious about pushing the engines that hard! I will try to rustle up the courage š Serial numbers 45395393 45395370 You gave me this document a while back for my CPL. Cheers Tony

June 24, 2019 at 2:24 am Hi I have made up a test rig to test my Aftercooler. Just checking, to prevent damaging the core – is there a ‘maximum torque’ for the threaded rod? Does it matter what rubber I use for the gaskets too? Cheers Tony

April 25, 2019 at 9:43 pm Hi Tony, it is Tony here from Tasmania, Australia. I was talking to you guys on the forum a little while ago about a 1997 Riviera 39 Flybridge cruiser I was looking to buy. I now have the boat here after bringing it 650 nautical miles from Sydney to Hobart. The boat went pretty well and now I am looking at what needs to be done to look after the engines. They are 6CTA8.3-M2’s with just over 1000 miles on them. Coling system has not been of…
38 RepliesMay 31, 2019 at 4:04 pm Hi Steve Thanks heaps for that info. I will do some research…. it seems that very few Riv engine room setups are the same, so custom is probably the go. I will see who I can find locally for now. Cheers Tony

January 1, 2019 at 2:58 am Hi all Next week I am getting a pre-purchase survey done on a boat in Australia. This will be my first boat… so it is a big leap! It is a 1997 Riviera 39 with twin Cummins 6CTA8.3M – just over 900 hours. I have some service records from the broker for the past few years, but it is not comprehensive. It is due for a service and there is no record of the cooling system being done in the past few years. I am getting a hull and engine su…
26 RepliesJanuary 10, 2019 at 11:44 pm Hi again On that note – with the boat about 800nm from me, the first shakedown voyage will be a good one…! I will be getting a major service done. With money not being unlimited (is it ever??!) – what are my priorities? – seawater pump bench service? – heat exchanger – to what degree? – aftercooler – is a new core the way to go? – is there a hose and clamp kit for CPL1929? US-AUD exchange rat…
