August 20, 2020 at 8:04 pm Boat is a ā€˜83 236 Mako Engine 250hp 6bta Jwac/Lucas Cav 1.5:1 Twin disc trans 1.25ā€ shaft Current prop is 16LHx17 (3 blade), which I dinged and am having rebalanced. No idea on cup. Is this the right prop or close? What WOT numbers am I looking for when I get it back on and test? Speed? Think dry weight is 4000# so loaded with 80gal fuel & gear maybe 5400#. Would like to have a spare prop for emergencies so wouldnā€™t mind changing things up…

August 23, 2020 at 7:56 am Simple question–With the current prop, the engine engine make over and accurate 2600 PRM, and maybe close to 2700 RPM?? No load RPM 2900+ish? Any dark smoke?

August 10, 2020 at 7:57 am Good morning. I found out last week that I have very, very dirty fuel due to water ingress into tanks. That problem was related to fuel fill hose setup and plumbing, and I am told water got into tank but ingress problem is now solved. Couple questions for the braintrust: Can I rig up sequentially smaller filters and continually pump my tank through a 12V “farm type” diesel pump, with the filtered diesel continually returning to the …

August 10, 2020 at 7:02 pm I will give it a go then. Boat lives on a trailer so I will monitor how much crud I get out to establish progress. Might even be able to shine a light down there into tank. Thanks for feedback.

November 4, 2019 at 10:22 am Howdy everyone. Just recently received my custom exhaust riser from SBMAR for my 236 Mako and it’s a doozie. All those that were afraid I didn’t have enough room were proven wrong by the team and I can’t say enough about it, but that is for a later post. ***Spoiler, it bolted right up like they had had my boat in their shop the entire build! On to business. When draining coolant and replacing Tombstone aftercooler hoses, I …

August 12, 2019 at 1:23 pm Recent repower- older 250hp 6bta in a 236 Mako inboard. Engine was a spare irrigation unit in storage. Little to no use from what I was told. I just acquired the boat and love it. I realize I need to upgrade cooling system tank and plumbing away from the old ā€œcorner mounted tankā€ system. Main question here is do I need a riser? Iā€™m not comfortable killing engine while out fishing due to possible backflow to turbo. Turbo has some broken blades …

September 20, 2018 at 2:56 pm Hello all. New to forum but have been learning from it for a long time. Hope to someday meet Tony and the crew at SB. I am looking at a boat equipped with a single 6bta (inboard), with a fresh water cooled “tombstone” style aftercooler and a lucas cav injector pump. The cpl tag is missing, I’m told the engine was used in a freshwater irrigation pump (farming) application. I have read up on the 250 hp 6bta but the datasheets…

September 26, 2018 at 4:03 am After seeing these pics are we still thinking CPL 953? How much HP on 953? Fuel consumption similar to 220 6bt with rotary or 250 6bta with bosch? Gracias.
