I will give it a go then. Boat lives on a trailer so I will monitor how much crud I get out to establish progress. Might even be able to shine a light down there into tank. Thanks for feedback.

    Tony:

Sorry to not reply timely. I have not had aftercooler water pipes off again so no pictures yet.

It was just a rough, grainy buildup inside pipes, didn’t really reduce diameter any noticeable amount or anything like that. But it was not “smooth and pristine”.

What I did do was remove thermostat and flush and back flush several more time, got some more gunk out and some REAL flow. Water flow is clear as gin now and strong both ways. When I was changing out head fitting for turbo return a while back, I did not notice any ugly stoppage or anything like that where you indicated. I was upgrading fitting to accommodate 1″ hose.

I read on here after searching that my planing hull will like a 160 degree thermostat, so that question is answered.

Really just want to know if there is any solution or product people like for treating innards of head/block while I have it this far undressed. My thinking is that there is probably no “magic bullet”, and a good extended fresh water flush is as good as it gets. Just wanting to make sure!

Thank you Bill. I will help you any way I can. Am currently still gathering critical measurements to find out what kinds of unanticipated hurdles yet await us. These guys are fun to work with.

I am not really familiar with that setup, but am open to anything.

Iā€™m for ā€œexhaustingā€ every option before cutting into the decks. Would certain measurements help you guys any? Would be great if there was ā€œjust enough roomā€ to get a riser in there.

I remember reading one of Tonyā€™s articles where he said in certain cases exhaust diameter can be reduced for short spans and still work well. Would something like that be a possibility here?

    Rob-
Had an old K&N. I upgraded to your S&B.

That design just might work. Especially if the heat exchanger could be shimmed away from engine creating space where it now sits for the circular riser. Or maybe heat exchanger could even be mounted remotely??

I will attach a few more pics showing space we are working with.

Thanks for reply Tony. What is the next step short of dragging my boat to Cali? Want to fix this the SB way.

Also am keen to address riser at this time and can take more pics or measurements as needed.

So here is what the turbo looks like. How bad is it?

Have re-thought get turbo upgraded by a third party. Just want a rebuild by a reputable outfit or exchange for Cummins Recon. Problem is Data Plate is missing from timing cover.

    250hp
    JWAC
    Lucas Cav
    Tombstone Aftercooler
    Sendure heat exchanger 4603-1-7
Holset H1E – assy 3552228 which doesnā€™t even come up as a valid turbo at local Cummins dealer

Maybe I could just ask for whatever turbo came on JWAC Lucas Cav 250hp 6bta and call it good?

That would be getting close to strainer setup. I saw a circular setup on one of your writeups that angled fore and up and circled back. Seemed doable.
Iā€™m not saying crossover wouldnā€™t work. Just trying to apply KISS philosophy.

Loaded waterline is close to turbo location. Tons of y axis room under hollow center console for riser. Starboard and aft clearances are tighter. Like really tight.

Maybe sen-dure heat exchanger could be slid forward or repositioned to create more space..

Control cables could be repositioned I imagine. I want to do this the right way as long as it doesnā€™t harelip the pope.

After seeing these pics are we still thinking CPL 953? How much HP on 953?

Fuel consumption similar to 220 6bt with rotary or 250 6bta with bosch?

    Gracias.

Ok sounds like rpm is pretty close.

Need pointers on updating weak cooling system. First Iā€™ve heard of this. Is this a very expensive proposition?

Will get better numbers and pictures of injector pump soon.

Cannot express how much I appreciate the guidance.

We got a max no load of approximately 2750 rpm.

And max underway of approximately 2650-2700.

Not sure if pump was derated for irrigation pump use or why no load is so low. Engine seems loafing underway and not at all hurting to my untrained ears.
