Hello all. New to forum but have been learning from it for a long time. Hope to someday meet Tony and the crew at SB. I am looking at a boat equipped with a single 6bta (inboard), with a fresh water cooled “tombstone” style aftercooler and a lucas cav injector pump. The cpl tag is missing, I’m told the engine was used in a freshwater irrigation pump (farming) application.
I have read up on the 250 hp 6bta but the datasheets I have seen indicate an inline injection pump and not the rotary lucas cav that is on this engine.
My questions are:
Are there datasheets out there for this configuration and is it 250hp or ?
Max no load rpm of engine?
What should the max rpm be underway?
I’m a novice on marine diesel but know the 6b pretty well. If I understand correctly the max rpm underway should reach a stated amount and if it doesn’t it could possibly be overpropped leading to early failure.
Seller has a gun to double check tach on console and it appears tach on console is about 60 fewer rpm than gun.
I can provide more details if wanted but didn’t want to clutter up post with a bunch of unneeded words.
Thanks for any replies.
