January 19, 2023 at 7:47 am I have a hydronic heat system onboard and want to pre hezt the motors via a heat exchanger circulation of engine coolant with a small 12v pump. The heater port connections that Tony has published are these suitable to circulate coolant while engine is cold? Are there better ports on the 6cta8.3 to use to preheat.   The temp of the hydronic system is 143 to 165 F so should be good.

February 25, 2023 at 8:06 am The hydronic pre-heat unit works great it takes 20 minutes to circulate the engine coolant through the heat exchanger and the engine is up at approximately 150 degrees F.   no more smoke at start up! it took 2days for the install mounting the heat exchangers and installing mini valves and new hoses plus the electrical wiring and switches. I can post pics if anyone is interested.   I had all the equipment purchased 10 years ago when we …

August 19, 2019 at 3:57 pm I I need help on figuring out how to improve the hydraulic steering system on my 55 ft powerboat. The issue is during conditions when we are running with waves and surfing down the waves the forces on the steering wheel are more than the system can exert. The wheel is solid no matter what force you apply to the wheel We generally pull the power back to slow down or end up doing lots of S turns down the coast. It doesnt take much of a swell to pu…

December 8, 2019 at 7:37 pm Does anyone know what this is on the output side of raw water pump? I picked up a new 12kw unit from a large expedition style boat. It was too small a unit for them probably keel cooled setup.

December 9, 2019 at 1:52 pm Would not be part of the OEM setup for heat exchanger cooling. Looks like you’ll need to get the heat-ex end cap setups, elbow raw water connector, and the raw water pump hose and nipple.

    • Double taper propeller shaft

March 12, 2019 at 7:26 pm This morning I picked up 2 new 2.25 double taper shafts with new couplers for my ZF301 trans. Cummins 6CTA8.3 motors. We are replacing bent shafts that cannot be straightened since someone used a grinder on them. The couplers are suspect looks like someone hammered on them. Do I fit the couplers similar to a propeller, fitting the coupler without the keyway first followed by the keyway?
