September 1, 2022 at 12:23 pm My 2014 Back Cove 37 single QSC 8.3-600 HO with 458 hours runs very rough when in gear at idle speed, enough to cause the boat interior to shake. Ā Advancing the throttle slightly stops the problem. Here are some particulars: When started (ZF 286A 0.91 gear not engaged), the engine idles smoothly @600 rpm. January 11, 2021 at 8:15 am My understanding from reading posts of a guy who owns a pair in a Sea Ray is that having a good tech is really important. He has what he refers to as his “Man-man”. He seems to like his engines very much, but are expensive to maintain. This both from parts and from service. The service network seems to be pretty thin, so I’d think it would be important to find out who can service them and if they have a good reputation.

November 11, 2020 at 6:41 pm That grease has most likely has been there since new and a good thing. Is it greenish? Regardless, if you buy it, first thing you should do is to service them as well replace all the zincs, etc. Drips of oil is not normal but may not be a huge issue to fix either. Needs to be investigated though. No coolant in overflow bottle not desirable as there really should be some in there, as Tony mentions. Good luck.
