May 26, 2021 at 3:57 pm QSB 380 always 176 Deg. @2,000RPM. I have Borel exhaust alarms but I was wondering if itā€™s a good idea to have an actual water pressure gauge. I always had them on my outboard and they were a great way of seeing trouble before itā€™s costly. I am 150 hours on my impeller and will change it out this week. I put a gauge on the 1/4ā€ npt outlet port on the top of my Sherwood pump for testing. I got 4lb at idle and 13lb at 1,800 rpm. I donā€™t know if th…

May 24, 2021 at 5:56 am Twin 6bta 370’s, 1996 manufacture date, 1600 hours. I was battling engine temps that were creeping to 195Ā°F last season. So this offseason I took off heat exchangers, aftercoolers, gear coolers (fuel coolers were deep-sixed), rodded, acid washed, new gaskets/orings etc. There was some significant blockages in the heat exchangers around the zincs. I also decided to swap to 160Ā°F thermostats so I wouldn’t spend 50% of my time starin…

May 25, 2021 at 7:04 pm For JimmyK, My thoughts on all of this go like this….. We spent a coupe of years trying to come up with a thermostat that gave the B more protection & time to respond to any over heat issue….This is what we came up with as a best compromise .. Sure, I’d like the engine to heat to 180F at fast as possible and then have thermostat that was so “variable” that if the temp went to 181-185f it world bring the tem…

March 22, 2021 at 6:51 am I installed an outboard-style water pressure gauge to monitor impeller condition, but should also indicate any plugging trends in the system. Runs about 5-6 psi at cruise. raw water alarm options

September 25, 2020 at 5:11 pm Hello, I’m a Cummins newbie. Just bought a 1996 Bayliner 3587 with 2 6BTA 250 Hp engines. I am trying to get to a zero standpoint for all maintenance items that have not been done. The raw water pump impellers are about 2-1/2 years old, so I want to throw some new ones in there and carry some spares. None of the pumps that I see for sale here look like ones on my boat. They have 4 bolts that hold the plate on, and all the ones I see h…

August 22, 2020 at 4:33 am I have outboard water pressure sensors that network through NMEA to my Simrad MFDā€™s,water pressures are displayed on screen continuously. They have adjustable alarm settings that generate an audible alarm and a flashing popup warning on screen when pressures drop below the setpoint, connected directly to the output side of the water pump. Pressures on screen in the pic shown as 71.00 and 72.10 KPA. https://www.lowrance.com/lowrance/type/sensors-…
