April 10, 2017 at 6:45 am Hello,I had my starboard alternator go out on me. I have a 2001 3500 Tiara Open with twin 370 6BTA engineĀs. I have 3 AGM 1000 MCA 800 CCA house batteries on the starĀboard side. The starĀboard alternator is missing it’s tag. The tag is still on the port alternator BaĀlmar (912-100) 100 amp and it’s charging two AGM starting baĀtteries . I have a external alternator voltage regulator. ShĀould they both the star and port be the exact …

    • Constant Torque Hose Clamps

March 27, 2024 at 9:14 am Curious if there is any specification or guidance on tightening these hose clamps.Ā  My impression is that the spring needs to have some give both to tighten and loosen to allow expansion.Ā  Ā Anyone have any advice vs just tightening them ‘tight’ like normal hose clamps.

June 1, 2023 at 6:39 pm Hi there, In the process of purchasing a 2004 Regal 3880 with twin Cummins 6BTA 5.9-M 370HP.Ā  Boat has Faria engine gauges installed and a Simrad evo2 During sea trial both Tachometers were reading over 4000rpms at WOT, but engines were checked by surveyor and were confirmed to be running at 2900rpms at WOT. Asside from getting the tach errors corrected, I would also like to install fuel flow meters as I plan on going offshore and would like to …

July 19, 2023 at 6:48 am Maretron makes a fuel flow analyzer but requires a significant amount of auxillary pieces to setup and calibrate. Ā NO matter what type you settle on they are all worthless unless you can gaurantee there is no air in either the supply or return lines. Any bubbles and they wonā€™t work. Ask me how I know. Check with a couple of clear Ā vinyl hose segments in the system before getting started and save some headaches.Ā

April 16, 2022 at 10:57 am How much will your voltage drop when you engage the starter ? I have 2 relatively new 31 east Penn gels in parallel and my voltage drops from 13.4 to around 9.7 is that normal ? I just installed some smx voltage gauges and that is the reading I get.Ā

October 1, 2022 at 6:30 pm Wow,Ā  I was just writing this reply and finally realized this thread is 6 months old.Ā  Opps. Oh well, I will leave it as it may help someone else.   If one battery is failing the parallel connections will show a good average voltage high enough to make things look OK.Ā  Ā The meter will likely show a good average voltage. However as soon as you try to crank the engine the failing battery will cause that average to drop big time.   I have…

    • Use Barnacle Buster?? 2006 QSB5.9-380

December 14, 2021 at 1:28 pm I want to do a Barnacle Buster flush on my motors but am worried about the chemicals making it “too clean” and maybe causing an internal leak at the fuel coolers or aftercoolers. I read one post and after a BB flush the person had water in his fuel due to a leak in his fuel cooler. My raw water system was relatively clean during the last cummins engine service about 2 months ago but that doesn’t protect me from a failure. …

December 20, 2021 at 7:14 pm I have used Rydlyme at the end of the season and when I take my coolers apart they look new. It will not cause leaks because it only gets rid of the marine growth and will not hurt parts. They show a man pouring it in his hands while holding a clam shell. I did it as a test and it dissolved the shell and did nothing to my hand.

September 14, 2021 at 11:12 am I’m new to the world of Cummins engines but I would like to install the Envirovent CCV system on my 2002 6BTA 370hp engines to mitigate the blow by gases. I would prefer to install the timing cover option but after watching the installation video and reviewing my condition I have something (not sure what it is) where the system connects to the timing cover. Can anyone help me identify what this is and whether it can be removed for the En…

September 29, 2021 at 2:30 pm I didn’t use any additional parts except those from the Valve Environment Cover Kit Seaboard supplies except the additional valve cover with oil filler cap. They include a T in the kit. All is the same else wise. Just tucked in the hoses a little differently to keep it all inboard of the outer dimensions of the engine. I did not want to take off the Heater element and turn it 90 degrees because I will never use it here in South Florida…

March 29, 2021 at 2:45 pm Here’s my problem. I have a aftercooler with a 90 degree 1.25″ hose barb and a heat exchanger with 1.75″ hose barb. Any advice on a solution here? Are the bolt patterns the same if I just buy a new cap for the aftercooler with the 1.75″ straight barb?

Now I realize there is no alignment arrow on the end of the core. One side is just stamped “ARB” No nice little arrow. Any hints?

March 10, 2020 at 12:26 pm Hey All, Long story – short is dropping in a pair of new CTAs (450). Taking the opportunity to replace hoses and really dial in the engine room. Wanted to get everyone’s opinion on bilge/engine compartment paint. I’ve seen many different options online Total Boat, BilgeKote, then a lot of people swear by good old rustolium enamel (oil based) and add hardener…. Would be a very cheap easy option as opposed to epoxy base…

March 17, 2020 at 5:15 pm 2 years ago I used a water-based 2-part garage floor epoxy on a bar-b-que project and then in my chicken coop where the chicken roost and poop all night.. I had to buy it out of state and ship it………..Maybe the best coating I have ever used–Went on heavy, covered all in one coat, and in 2-3 cool days is was like a porcelain finish.. I would have no issues using it in a bilge. Yours reads like the same product.
