On a side note 2900 rpm wot on these engines indicates being a bit over propped.Ā

Yes batteries are parallel, I will check the cables and connections. I will check on the charger question but I think the shore power was unhooked. Also was thinking about isolating each battery and see if I get a different reading.

    thanks

Hi Tony, It is measured with one of your voltage gauges hooked directly to the start battery bank.Ā

Yes they are as that is what I am doing now I have two sets so I have one refurbished on the shelf and just change caps when I change aftercoolers.
I think you can just buy the cap from seaboard also

Stephen, The early style gear coolers and aftercooler caps were 90 degree and 1.25 ā€œ the late style aftercooler has a cap with straight barb and uses a 90 degree 1.75 hose to go from aftercooler to gear cooler. I have the early style engines and bought two new aftercoolers so Iā€™m looking for the opposite of what your looking for and would be interested in a trade.

I have the same boat and engines the alternators are the same, you also have the charles regulator that has another control box behind the seat right below the electric control panel in your cabin, there’s 4 or 6 screws to take the panel of then you can check or change the charger to charge either acid, agm or gel batteries separate setting for each. I have the west marine gels in mine there nine years old last Feb. and going great.
