April 6, 2022 at 10:20 am What hp are the 6bta’s with the p7100 pumps and the 90 degree cap aftercoolers?Ā  Did they get up to 315/330? I don’t have cpl numbers or serial numbers to look them up.

    • Cat 3126 to Cummins 6cta zf280a

November 9, 2019 at 9:32 pm I’m trying to find some info on if these transmissions and damper plates (centa I believe) can go directly from the Cat to the Cummins. Apparently both have SAE 3 bell housings however the Cat has the rear starter mounting.

November 10, 2019 at 7:39 pm Yes — Just cut the starter ring off the adapter if you do not want to buy a new one.. We do this many times per year reusing older Twin Disc gears…..One less bolt, but it does not matter. Be 100% your torsional coupling is in “as new” condition or I would seriously hesitate re-using it.. Your call.. Tony

    • SMX transmission alarm switch

This topic has 7 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated byCorey Schmidt 4 years ago

August 5, 2019 at 10:45 am I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve had 4 or 5 of these fail now on different engines and transmission setups. Maybe I need to replace them as a “maintenance” item every year? Some start to leak out of where the adjustment screw is and this latest one seems to be leaking from the metal area. If for some reason my alarm panel or gauge wasn’t working I probably would have burnt the transmission up and that …

September 24, 2019 at 3:19 pm Shawn, when did you purchase those switches from us and about how many did you purchase? The switch in the pics you provided appears to be over 2-3 years old?

    • Murphy Gauge on 6BTA

November 30, 2018 at 4:49 pm Anybody have pics of these installed on a 6bta? I seen the 6cta (I think) on this site but it looks like the tank might be bigger. I’d like to put them on the sides just like that though. How’s installation? I need to put fitting in the bottom the the tank and then the top one can go over to the starboard side of the tank where all of the plugs are?

    • Alarm panels waterproof?

November 23, 2018 at 3:30 pm I had a couple of Borel (I think) alarm panels in my boat. I’m looking for a more waterproof solution if possible and was wondering if the ones on this site are?

November 27, 2018 at 5:00 pm Most of the panels we sell have the sensitive electronics on the rear of the panels “gooped” with electrical grade doping compound so they are not exposed. The panels seem to hold up very well to the elements…

September 20, 2018 at 12:30 pm Anybody know what size bolts are used to install the torsional coupling to the flywheel and what size are used to secure the transmission to the bell housing? Cummins 6bta and zf220a

September 20, 2018 at 6:18 pm Call Brendan at the shop tomorrow… he does this stuff in his sleep. I do know that the SAE#3 bellhousing bolts are (12) – M10 x 1.5 x 25-30mm length SAE 11.5″ Flywheel is probably (8) 3/8-16 UNC-2B But let @Brendan confirm 100% on everything.

September 4, 2018 at 6:15 pm I have it and am able to run it now, but prop seems too big maybe. I had a 2:1 before, was kind of hoping it was a 1.75:1 and I’d be ok.

    • Need a little wiring help

This topic has 5 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byCorey Schmidt 5 years ago

August 29, 2018 at 10:35 am I just got a new used 6bta 5.9 330 and it has no wiring on it. I looked at the wiring diagram on this site and I’m pretty sure I can get it going but have a couple of questions. Can I put a fuse in the 10 amp breaker position? (I don’t have a 10 amp breaker handy) I don’t have aux magnetic switches on the engine, does it really matter? The diode it’s showing, what’s it for and is it needed?
