January 24, 2020 at 4:48 pm Iā€™m the proud and broke owner of a slightly over propped sea ray with Qsm 11ā€™s. After replacing burnt out manifold gaskets twice in 5 years, Iā€™ve cut 1.5 inches of pitch out of the props and Iā€™m at 19-20 gph at 1900 rpmā€™s. Probably will have to take a bit more pitch out. I just installed Seaboards Pyro gauges so I can monitor EGT. My question is, what tempā€™s do I need to avoid??? Basically, what is too hot and what do I need to stay under??

January 24, 2020 at 7:18 pm Need advice on changing Props to protect QSM11s Scroll to the bottom of the thread and read Larry Backman’s numbers. He did the same thing you did. Added the SMX Pyro to keep an eye on things. He gives good numbers and advice on how he runs. And yes you are going to need to take another inch or more out to get your fuel burn down below the magic number.

August 14, 2019 at 7:13 pm First diesel powered boat. 2 QSM 11’s w/ the manifold leaks and over-propping etc. Working on the prop issue now and this site has been very helpful as far as that goes. I’ve read a lot of info on this site regarding seawater system maintenance but I can’t find anything that gives specific guidelines on the time frame for the maintenance. What is recommended as far as how often to remove and clean coolers/heat XC?? …

    • Code 432/QSM11/no throttle

This topic has 2 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated bysean b 4 years ago

June 19, 2019 at 2:35 pm I have an intermittent throttle problem on one of my QSM11’s (on a 2005 Sea Ray 500) that gives a fault code of 432. Cummins tells me that code refers to the “throttle acceleration pedal” being out of alignment or needing to be replaced. I have no idea what that is and Cummins, SeaRay, and Mercruiser aren’t much help. Basically, when this happens the engine will only run at idle speed. The throttle seems to become di…

June 20, 2019 at 6:24 am That’s a good question. The only paperwork I have on the throttles is from Teleflex but I believe that may be who makes the cables. No markings on throttle themselves. I’ll call SRay. Thanks

    • Aftercooler bolts

January 8, 2019 at 7:47 am Looking for a little help with an Aftercooler issue. The 2 bolts that go up vertically into the starboard aftercooler and help hold the ac to the bracket/shelf cannot be tightened. The bolts just fall out into the bilge after running the engines for a while. The bolts look okay threadwise and I believe the holes in the ac are stripped. Cummins seems to suggest that there is no other option but to replace the ac. Has anyone had this issue??…

January 8, 2019 at 3:50 pm Thanks Justin. This is my first time posting a question so I’ll put a photo up next time once I figure out how!! You are correct though. Those are the bolts I am talking about in your photo on QSM 11’s. I’ll get a second opinion as I also think there is enough room to drill and put a larger size bolt in.
