June 3, 2021 at 2:23 pm Cummins 6BTA, CPL8457, SN 46335077, 370hp, 1600 hours Had noticed oil mess around the OEM air-sep installation and ordered/installed EnviroVent. Followed directions online, no issues with the installation was pretty seamless. Fired up engine post installation, smoking heavily from timing cover crankcase vent. Also noting oil pressure on this engine about 10-12 psi lower than the port engine at idle (haven’t gotten to the other side yet).…

    • Oil dipstick leaking at base

June 22, 2020 at 2:10 pm I have a pair of 6 btā€™s and I am changing the oil soon. I noticed that both engines have an oil leak where the base of the dip stick housing screws in to the engine. My questions are, is there an o ring or washer that needs to be replaced there ? If not, can I simply unscrew it and place some sealant on it and tighten it back down? Thank you.

February 9, 2020 at 12:37 pm Hello, I’m in the process of replacing my electronics with Garmin MFD’s. I’m curious what kind of data can be pulled into the NMEA2000 bus from the 6CTA? I’m hoping to pull – RPM’s, Load, GPH, Temps, and anything else I can get out of it. Appreciate the feedback. Chris

February 17, 2020 at 9:13 pm I am in the closing stages of doing what you want. I have removed all my analog gauges, updated some senders on the engines (6CTAs), and built a new dash (see attached photos). I already had a functioning N2K backbone on the boat. I ordered a pair of the SMX DigitalView kits from Corey, with the EGT, boost, and NMEA2000 options. Though the gauges are a little small if that’s all you’re using, it’s fine when combined with the G…

July 19, 2018 at 6:29 pm Boat: 2004 Meridian 411 6bta 370hp 1200hrs Boat has been freshwater last few years, previously salt. It is moving to large freshwater body. I flew down to the boat and met with my surveyor today. I think all in all things went pretty well. There are about 100 small things (typical maintenance items, some deferred maintenance and some previous salt water related items) that need addressed but I negotiated a great price in advance. I went there t…
