    • ZF 280-1 Slipping stil after overhaul

October 31, 2020 at 2:52 am Dear people, Half a year ago my ZF 280 -1 clutch had an overhaul because it slipped when accelerating very quickly (port engine). Now he does this again after overhaul, because I very rarely accelerate quickly and usually have the engines set synchronously, I only notice this now. My question is could it be that the clutch plates are already worn out? Or could there be another reason for this? another oil (thicker or something) can solve this pr…

October 31, 2020 at 1:26 pm Hi Tony, From the dashboard the pressure is around 22 or 23 bar, just like the starboard engine. I don’t know if this is also the case when I suddenly give full throttle, but with quiet use this remains constant.

    • oil for ZF 280-1A, Which oil do you prefer?

This topic has 8 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated byJohan 4 years ago

April 13, 2020 at 6:20 am Dear, Which oil do you prefer? I can only find 2 brands of oil here in the Netherlands that I think are suitable for the gearboxes I have (ZF 280-1A), the problem is that the oil packaging does not contain a specification. These are MPM Marine engine oil single grade sae 30 and Yanmar Genuine gear oil sae 30, see the photos. thanks in advance for your answer.

April 27, 2020 at 11:11 am Before I got to the oil change the following problem arises. the gearbox is under pressure. This happens in forward, backward pressure seems to be in order. see the photos film I am unable to post. In the photos you can see the engine in forward in its 1st click oil pressure increases very slowly and sinks and floats again. The marine gear was overhauled last year.

    • Measure fuel vacuum

August 30, 2018 at 11:07 am Hey, I have placed a vacuum meter on my Racor filters but I do not see that the needle comes off the 0, the meters stay at 0. I have the engines running at 2000 rpm at the port. The filters are 10 microns and have been used for 70 hours and have consumed about 2000 liters of fuel. Is it true that it can be that the needle of the meter stays at 0? Meters are new (and tested) and the same result for all 2 engines. Gr, Johan

September 7, 2018 at 7:44 pm If everything you have posted is accurate, then the answer in simple. You are basically “gravity feeding” your engines and until the element loads with diesel fines, you are not going to see much on your gauge.. Try switching to a 2-mic element–That should cause them to load faster.. Tony

    • Low rpm oke?

August 19, 2018 at 7:58 am Hello everyone, First of all, sorry for my bad English. I have a Jeaneau prestige 46 of 2006 with 2x qsc 8.3 with about 1670 hours. Now I have the following questions. Is it bad for the engines to sail at low revs (1000 rpm, 7 nm), it is often not possible to sail harder. What is your advice on that. I also have the problem that if I first start the SB engine there is sometimes an alarm (AL) on the dashboard, this goes out when I give a little g…
