Dear, Which oil do you prefer?
I can only find 2 brands of oil here in the Netherlands that I think are suitable for the gearboxes I have (ZF 280-1A), the problem is that the oil packaging does not contain a specification.
These are MPM Marine engine oil single grade sae 30 and Yanmar Genuine gear oil sae 30, see the photos. thanks in advance for your answer.

Before I got to the oil change the following problem arises. the gearbox is under pressure. This happens in forward, backward pressure seems to be in order. see the photos film I am unable to post. In the photos you can see the engine in forward in its 1st click oil pressure increases very slowly and sinks and floats again. The marine gear was overhauled last year.

    Johan,

Your questions are clear and your English is fine.

IMO, you are over thinking the oil spec you need..

Multi-grade or single grade makes ZERO difference.. I just wanted to be sure you knew there are many options.

My answer at this point————————Flip a coin, go fishing, as I really do not think think it will make any difference in the long run..Good oil is good oil, and IMO, your gear is really not as particular as you think it is..

    Hi Tony, I’ve read everything!
English is not my native language but I think I get it.
in your message you put O4C but those are all multi grade oils and I am sailing with my boat in a not too hot country so do I want to stick to the SAE 30 is this correct or is O4C better? can you give me a brand and type of oil which is available here in the Netherlands and what you think is the best. I have looked up some brands available here, SHELL RIMULA R3 + 30, and the manufacturer of The Marine engine oil single grade SAE 30 meets the requested specification of the ZF gearbox CD / SF says the manufacturer (see the photo), And the yanmar oil what do you think about that? I hope my questions are clear due to my bad english. thanks in advance for your time!

Valvoline Premium Blue 7800 15W-40 for the Cummins qsc 8.3, but I understood that a SAE 30 oil should be used for the gear Zf 280-1A. OIL SPECIFICATIONS

Look closely at the ZF oil chart on this web site—Lots or 15w-40’s listed–What exact oil do you run in your engine?
