    • Which Alternator for 2005 QSM11 670

This topic has 13 replies, has 5 voices, and was last updated byTom Mann 4 years ago

June 4, 2019 at 1:59 pm I believe I have a bad alternator on my QSM11 670. I’m not at the boat right now. I’d like to order a new alternator but I’m not exactly sure what I need. Does anyone know off hand which alternator I need for a 2005 QSM11 670? Dumb question but is this something that would be in stock at an auto parts store? It’s going to be a few days before I can get to the boat so I’d love to show up with the part in hand. T…

October 16, 2017 at 8:34 am Hello all, I have a pair of 2004 QSM11’s recently the starboard side engine is burning a little more fuel and running 3-5 degrees hotter and 50-70 RPM’S behind the port engine. Subsequently I cannot hit 2340 at WOT. Previously both engine had no problem hitting 2340. My fuel filters, both the Racors (900’s) and the FS1009 were changed at 1180 hr, currently the engines have 1293 hrs. The bottom cleaned and props checked in th…

August 14, 2018 at 8:18 am Hi, After propping down from 35ā€ to 33ā€ and retuning and balancing the props I have experienced some changes which Iā€™ll post here. The port and starboard engines are running closer temps at 1820 RPM cruise and 23 MPH speed: Temps @ 163p / 165s GPH 17.6p / 18.9s The engines are running better than before at all RPMs and make rated RPM of 2300 on both with WOT of 2360p / 2330s. Tony, in answering your response. Yes, I did repitch my props and it d…

October 4, 2017 at 6:18 am I Have a 96 Searay with twin 6CTA Cummins. I find fuel in the bilge after shutdown and have been unable to locate the source. I can’t see any evidence of fuel coming from the tanks, water seperators, fuel lines to or from the engine or filters. Anyone else experience this?

October 17, 2017 at 6:29 am Thanks Tom. I feel as if that may be closer to the issue, as I have not experienced any leak after changing the Perko filters and cleaning it.

September 22, 2017 at 5:11 pm Hello all, I’ve got QSM11’s, 660 hp. 1276 hours. I’m doing my routine inspection of the engines and found that both air cleaners were a little dirty. Not bad since the last cleaning and re-oiling was done 260 hours ago (18 months). I normally check the air cleaners and turbos for wear every 100 or so hours. During my inspection I noticed a small amount of soot on the end of the blades of the turbos. I’ve cleaned, oiled…

    • Rectorseal 5 on all engine hoses

May 9, 2017 at 8:29 pm I know this topic has been discussed many times before and all indications tell me that Blue #5 is the trick stuffĀ for hosesĀ .Ā  I have a set from TonyĀ and am ready to install this week. I get it ,Ā  but it seems like it would make the hoses slippery on the connections and more prone to blow off than a dry connection. What am I missing here ?Ā  Trying to avoid a ” Jackpot “   Thanks

May 11, 2017 at 1:15 pm Tom, If all is well as to no annoying weeping or leaking then you are good as is. Ā As far as heat, Rectorseal on anything at “coolant temperature” is no issue.

March 3, 2017 at 8:15 pm Hi, I changed my current SmartCraft 5000 (2003 version 1.0) to a NOS 2006, version 3.3. After replacing the display I noticed it offered more information like manifold temp, load, gear temp. My question is this: I didn’t have this information on my old SmartCraft so apparently I don’t have the sensors, can I install /adapt the sensors and wiring to the new SmartCraft display or am I stuck with the information I had on the old display…

December 9, 2016 at 7:02 pm Hi Tony, Hi Rob, I need to find written instructions regarding the “manual” shifting of my ZF 325IV gears. If you can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it. I’ve searched the internet, you tube, etc, etc. Can’t find anything, but I know it can be done. The reason I need to know is because a friend of mine was running about 100 miles offshore when his captain was not able to shift his port side ZF gear i…
