April 8, 2019 at 12:57 pm Hello, I’m looking at an ’03 with Cummins 480 CE’s. I wanted to ask what I could expect to pay for the aftercooler/heat exchanger service provided it hasn’t been done in the last 2-3 years? Regards, Bobby

Smart Craft question

April 8, 2019 at 1:08 pm Hello, I’m looking at a boat with Cummins 480CE’s and Smart Craft system. Seller’s broker said the Smart Craft display has been replaced in the last year or so. Since I’m not familiar with them. My question : is the new display going to show the correct engines hours and other information? Can a Cummins tech connect his diagnostic equipment to the engines to read the data that way? Thanks, Bobby

April 8, 2019 at 2:46 pm What would Cummins 480CE 1,000 hr. svc. cost and what’s done? Thanks, Bobby
1 ReplyApril 8, 2019 at 4:25 pm Cost for work done on a boat at the boat can not be discussed in any useful manner on a public forum because every boat is different and every shop/tech has it’s own billing schedule. This is a totally different animal than taking a car to the dealer for scheduled maintenance. As to “1,000 hours” …. the only thing that is so driven by the hourmeter would be the valve lash adjustment. Get that done. All else is by the &…
