October 11, 2021 at 12:18 pm I have struggled to locate the places to remove air after new fuel filters installed. Surely there is a pump somewhere on the engine to do this. Please help. Yes I should install the bulb system but my Bayliner 4087 has issues that preclude such a mod. Show me pictures if you can. Regards Bill.

October 12, 2021 at 5:58 am left side of engine, towards the after end. It’s the first thing the fuel hose goes to. After that, follow the line to filter housing, then IP. You should see points along the way where you can bleed air from. D

July 22, 2020 at 8:14 pm Greetings: After much fussing we finally removed the Stbd starter on my bayliner 4087. Needless to say it was a challenge and in order accomplish the end we removed the air hose from the turbo and stood on our heads. The issue I know has frustrated numerous folk. But my question deals with the mount system used for the Magnetic switch. Surely the switch can be mounted in a manner not to impede the removal of the starter. Your pictures d…

July 25, 2020 at 12:46 pm You can safely remount it in a more convenient location/orientation……………Only two cautions: 1) Do not mount it upside down–Why? A bouncing boat can, in some circumstances, cause the plunger inside to drop down & crank the starter motor intermittently.. Lots of truckers learned that the hard way 2) Hopefully you do not have to extent the larger wires on the bigger studs

    • Coolant disappearance

November 11, 2019 at 3:27 pm Doing my fall maintenance I discovered that all the coolant in the stbd pressure tank had disappeared. There is no sign of any green anti-freeze in or around the engine. The engine temp on warm-up for oil change was normal. I ran them in gear at 800 for 30 mins. With the engine cooled down I removed the rad cap to check and there was a slight “hiss” which indicated a pressure release. The exchanger itself does not have any r…

November 14, 2019 at 6:16 pm Mystery not solved, however things seem to be working. Pressurized the system to 15 psi empty and let it sit for 3 hrs. Pressure dropped to 13. Then filled the tank and re-pressurized the system for about 30 min. Pressure dropped to 12. Put on tank lid started her up, ran at 1500 until temp reached 180. No leaks nothing but normal. Cooled her down took off the cap level not changed. No smoke, just a smooth running 6BTA. Up shot is l…

    • Aetna Tachometers and VHF Noise

This topic has 10 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byBill Taylor 5 years ago

October 1, 2018 at 4:46 pm I recently installed a pair of Aetna Tachometers, model 8905R-P-DS LCD in the tower of my boat. I used Belden, twisted pair, shielded 16 guage wire for the signal wire. The tachometers work great and are very accurate. I have power supply running from 12V power panel in the tower with toggle switches and fuses, so I can turn them on and off. They are not wired to the ignition switch. The problem is I’m getting a lot of noise on my VHF radi…

January 7, 2019 at 8:30 pm Rob: Thanks for the info and the diagram. Now only have to decide whether I need the shielded cable. As for the LED, thanks, yes on the fly bridge it will have to be LCD for sure as I only operate in the day light. I am also looking at installing the ISSPRO R609 Turbocators on the fly bridge. As an old gas man my diesel learning curve is steep and question keep arising. My next issue will be bleeding especially when I am changing fuel fi…
