May 8, 2018 at 2:29 pm Any brand oil that meets spec is fine. Most choose Dino oil since itā€™s cheaper and the synthetic. There are lots of good brands and unlike other color engines that specific oil seems to cure an issue here and there Cummins do just fine with plain Dino oil…. Delo, Mobil, Shell Rotella, Valvoline, etc… they all work just fine. Once it meets spec spend the money on a quality oil filter (fleetguard) and regular oil changes are all you ne…

    • 2 micron fuel filter

This topic has 1 reply, has 2 voices, and was last updated byPhilip 6 years ago

April 11, 2018 at 6:04 pm I have a pair of 6 CTA’s My question is, I want to run 2 micron filters in the Racors, before the filter on the engine. I have vacuum gauges and can monitor them and change when needed. My reason is ,its so much easier to change the Racors, than the engine filters where there is a good chance to loss fuel prime.

April 11, 2018 at 6:29 pm Good thought, bad idea. You run a risk of clogging quicker than you can monitor. If your having issues with priming the last chance on engine filter investigate the following: Fuel Filtration Squeeze Bulb Priming on Diesel Powered Boats

October 1, 2017 at 5:05 pm Does the 6 CTA share the same pump and failure issues as the 6 BTA engine?

April 24, 2017 at 7:25 pm Looking to fine out how often I can expect to service the aftercoolers on 6 BTA 5.9 Ā  Ā 330 hp. I would assume that this interval would be different for salt and fresh water. I plan on running 200 + hours in the coarse of a 3 month period.
