October 4, 2021 at 6:54 am I have a pair of 6CTA 480 CE on a 2003 Pursuit 38, the starboard engine is running fine but after running the boat for about one hour I noticed a leak at the clamp between the turbo and the air pipe that goes to the aftercooler. I removed the clamp and found that there is a rubber o-ring inside that was broken, I will be replace it during the week to see if that solves the leak, but my concern is why do I have what seems to be oil/slush goin…

October 15, 2021 at 4:17 am Probably normal.. But do remove the air side housing from the turbo ONCE a year and clean all inside “Spic & Span.. They can get very nasty. Easy job and no parts needed to do it–Just a good solvent and elbow grease.

March 1, 2021 at 12:44 pm I have the SMX ED-4 Marine Diesel Displays on my 38 Pursuit and the starboard display suddenly looks like burned. What causes this? Can it be fixed?

March 1, 2021 at 3:13 pm I did not read your post title closely enough and I just reviewed your pics. I was thinking you needed to replace the originals with the SMX displays. That is already done so I will back out and hopefully Corey Schmidt chimes in. Sorry for the churn on this one……….

    • Turbo Boost at idle

June 19, 2020 at 2:23 pm I have new to me 2003 480 CE, While at idle at the dock the display is showing a reading of 5 InHg, I understand that It should be 0 (no boost) while at the dock at idle. Could it be a bad boost sensor? Would that extra reading maintain itself throughout the cruising RPM range? Appreciate any help you can give me. Luis

June 29, 2020 at 11:46 am Thanks Tony, I will swap transducers between the engines and see if the issue follows the transducer. Will the boost reading affect the fuel consumption readings on the 480 ce? How exactly is the fuel flow determined, by the ECM, the fuel pump?
