March 26, 2019 at 5:27 pm Cummins’ manual for the QSC 8.3 says that when replacing the spin-on FF 5488 fuel filter, the “…fuel supply and return valves MUST be closed…” Not at the boat, so I can’t look right now, but are these two valves easily located? Am I looking for them on or near the engine, or on or near the fuel tank?

March 26, 2019 at 8:20 pm Fuel valves are manufacturer installed not Cummins so they will all be different locations. On my boat I do have a valve on the tank for both return and supply but honestly never have shut them off when changing the filters. Unless your tank is mounted above the engine then there is not much risk…. Phil

March 25, 2019 at 4:06 pm Ready to change oil in my 2006 vintage QSC 500 engines. Trying to find 10w-40 Rotella T, but having trouble. Most stores now carry T4, meeting a CK classification instead of the old CJ…is the new stuff OK to use?

March 26, 2019 at 12:36 pm Thanks to all. Sort of thought CK-4 must be OK, but always good to check. Tony, 15w-40…noted.Thanks.
