Had this issue on my 2010 QSB5.9. Alarm started sounding and oil pressure reading o or 69 on Smartcraft system. Mechanical gauges on engine were showing pressure&temp still good. Changed sensor(bought here at SBM) – no love – still the same. Went throught he wiring harness connections looking for corrosion – none found. Finally enlisted help from Cummins service tech who brought his diagnostic computer. What we ultimately found was that for some reason (we think maybe a power surge at a transient dock) the ECU had glitched and was set to read an oil sender (a simple yes/no signal – hence the zero or 69 readings) and not the installed and correct oil sensor. He reflashed the ECU – we verified it was now set up to look for an oil sensor and at startup the gauge immediately started displaying proper oil pressures. I know of one other owner who was having this same issue and I passed on my experience. This procedure corrected his problem too. Hopefully it’s an option for some others.
