    • RPM’s not registering on SMX-What to check for

This topic has 3 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated byCorey Schmidt 4 years ago

January 13, 2020 at 7:35 am Hello All, I have a 5.9 12V 6BTA5.9 and have added the SMX digital gauge. The SMX would show RPMs when it was over 1k and anything under it didn’t really show a good reading. I just replaced the Cummins Magnetic Pickup Speed RPM Sensor and adjusted it the way I was instructed too. But now I have no RPM’s at all showing up. Any idea where I should start to trouble shoot this problem? thanks in advance for the info!!

April 30, 2019 at 11:56 am Well took the boat out and leaking fluid from rear seal. Was going to order a seal and O ring and attempt this repair myself. Talking to a few people they are suggesting to remove the transmission from the boat. Was trying not to do that and was wondering if anyone has attempted this task while in the boat and any suggestions or hints on this? thanks in advanced JD

January 19, 2018 at 5:41 am Look at the attached picture.. Don’t get complicated.. This is the “spec” you want to use…….. Very common, easy to get and cheap.. For a 6 BT 5.9, 3/8″ for supply and 1/4″ for the return is fine..–Use can use barb fittings & hose clamps or PUSH-On fitting & SAE /JIC flare fittings for un-inspected vessels Tony
