Engine is installed in a commercial lobster boat, 6700hrs on the engine, brand-new after cooler from Seaboard last spring, serviced this spring. Old aftercooler had been neglected and core was leaking a bit. Overhead adjusted this spring, intake valves were all pretty tight with #5 and #6 at less than .003″. High-pressure fuel pump has been changed, failed within first 2000hrs and was covered under warranty.

Below is link to the video, as can be heard in the video the engine seems a bit rough until RPM gets up above 1500rpm. The video is taken in neutral and the rough running is even more pronounced while in gear.

    Tony,

Thanks for the info, I looked around your website but didn’t see that item listed, curious about the price?

I am assuming that the PTO would be turning at input shaft speed? Looking for a way to run a small, ~8gpm or so pump to drive a small net roller and little boom winch.

    Thanks again for the info,

    JW

As an update I re-installed the alarm circuit board and it works great, though i had to try two different buzzers. The first unit would not work at the lower voltage (9.8volts), the second unit tried,

worked great and will wake the dead.

A side note is that if anyone is suffering with low oil pressure alarms when engine is pulled back to an idle, which seems to be pretty common with almost every mechanical cummins around here, a 3ohm resistor added to the oil pressure sender input will cure the problem. The 3ohms bumps things up just enough to eliminate the nuisance alarms.

A couple things come to mind, first, if possible rig up a vacuum gauge between the lift pump and your racors and see what kind of restriction you are dealing with. I would also take a look at the check valve assembly in your racor, i have seen globs of tank sludge get caught in these before causing a lot of restriction despite the fact clean filters were installed.

When you say engine won’t exceed 1300rpm, does it run fine up to that point and then stumble and fall off when throttle is pushed farther?

    Tony,

Thanks for the reply, I will get a buzzer coming and get it soldered onto the board.
