QCS load at idle
This topic has 7 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated by 3 years ago
May 1, 2021 at 5:57 pm Just wondering what others are seeing for engine load at idle? Went to look at an 8.3 QSC today, was running a bit rough at lower RPM, at idl in neutral load was 24-26% As the engine rpm was increased in neutral the engine smoothed out and load decreased as throttle position increased. Have a good video of this this but couldn’t figure out how to load it onto forum. Thanks, JW

hydraulic PTO on ZF-63A
This topic has 3 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated by 5 years ago
March 5, 2019 at 5:17 am I am interested in mounting a small hydraulic pump on the back of a ZF-63 gear, never seen a PTO on these gears and curious if it can be done. Also interested in the maximum power one could draw from a PTO on a ZF 63. Thanks, JW
3 RepliesMarch 8, 2019 at 7:58 am Yes, 1:1 and rotates CCW looking at the PTO, meaning you need a CW pump. Remember, it’s a live PTO so if you got that direction, your system must be designed to accommodate that. 8 GPM at idle speeds is a VERY BIG pump for an SAE A pad.. 8 GPM at 1200 RPM ( where most pumps are rated), may be doable. It’s $700 kit, but looks like something that should be more like 50% of that.. . Tony

external alarm buzzer for analog panel
This topic has 6 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated by 5 years ago
May 22, 2018 at 6:31 am I have an analog alarm panel from a 8.3 that the buzzer has failed on, i replaced the board with one from a spare motor and all is well. My question is could i solder a couple pigtails onto the board with the bad buzzer and connect a remote piezo buzzer that would be located in area that was easier to hear if an alarm is present? Fellow running the boat is about half deaf and can’t hear the alarms when engine is over an idle. Not sure wh…
6 RepliesJune 10, 2018 at 3:30 am As an update I re-installed the alarm circuit board and it works great, though i had to try two different buzzers. The first unit would not work at the lower voltage (9.8volts), the second unit tried, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HR6P9QU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 worked great and will wake the dead. A side note is that if anyone is suffering with low oil pressure alarms when engine is pulled back to an idle, which …

Fuel Issues
This topic has 5 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated by 5 years ago
May 28, 2018 at 9:59 am Got a fuel problem (6CTA): I was low on one fuel tank so I switched to the other tank at the fuel manifold thereby using a crossover hose that hasn’t been used in a couple years. A few minutes later that engine coughed a little for a few seconds and was then fine. The next day I added fuel and switched that engine back to the normal tank. Now that engine will not exceed about 1300 RPM’s. I’ve changed both Racor filters and the …
