May 18, 2020 at 12:24 pm Do you guys have access to the cad drawing or a photo showing the dimensions of a 15 quart oil capacity pan on a 6bta? Mine has the rear drain plug (also interested in the thread size if you know). Thanks.

May 19, 2020 at 6:16 am Engine serial no. 60260856. I’m going to have an oil pan blanket made and a valve cover blanket made by Advanced Thermal Products. I am trying to get this motor to quiet down some. I can just template out of cardboard but if you have a drawing or some measurements to get me started that would be great. I asked in another thread about this https://www.sbmar.com/community/topic/engine-blankets-for-noise-control/ about a year ago. Have you…

May 23, 2019 at 5:41 am I have single 6bta with the analog panel. I have run into an erratic low voltage and trying to trace it down. When the problem arises, I show about 8-10 volts on my cummins gauge panel and the starter will click or barely turn. What I’ve done so far: New batteries, new starter cable to batteries, new magnetic switch and cleaned, re-sealed heat shrink connectors on wires, good grounds (new from starter to trans, the trans to battery is…

June 26, 2019 at 3:05 pm Ground the panel to your battery separately from the engine harness. I replaced my engine fuse as well it’s a cheap fix and they can go bad as they get older.

June 25, 2018 at 8:21 am I have an engine box model of the Albin 28 with a 370hp 6bta. Unfortunately the nature of the boat is that it will be somewhat loud but wondering if you guys recommend any blankets for the motor to help? I have good sound deadening on my engine box and underneath the deck in most places, the air intake is under the gunwale so not much to do there. Would a manifold blanket and a turbo blanket do anything or is it the injectors and pump that c…

    • Head Gasket Leak 6bta

December 10, 2018 at 7:50 am I have a 370hp version of the 6bta, it has 130 hours, it was a factory rebuild installed a couple years ago. I recently had the head gasket replaced due to an overheat issue (raw water intake left closed). It got hot for just a minute and was shut down on alarm, but apparently that was enough to blow the gasket and bend the exhaust rod on number 4. Head was decked and 7/1000 removed, magnafluxed for leaks and new valve seats installed. I was …

    • Netural Safety Switch

June 21, 2018 at 7:24 am I am doing some preventative maint. and replacing the mag. switch on my 370hp 6bta after I was losing voltage due to some corrosion (cleaned off terminals and fixed the problem but bought the switch you sell here for peace of mind). My boat does not have the neutral safety circuit hooked up and I am interested in remedying. I have looked at the wiring diagrams here and can’t seem to figure out how to wire it. I have two leads from my ZF…

June 25, 2018 at 7:43 am A quick update, I ended up running two new wires to the switch on the transmission and wired them in series with the yellow/red to the mag switch. I could not find the original wires that were hooked up, they run into the wire loom and not sure where they ended up. I toned them and one was grounded somewhere. Works as it should now and my voltage issue is solved with a new switch and new heat shrink terminations on the the wiring harness. Th…
