I have an engine box model of the Albin 28 with a 370hp 6bta. Unfortunately the nature of the boat is that it will be somewhat loud but wondering if you guys recommend any blankets for the motor to help? I have good sound deadening on my engine box and underneath the deck in most places, the air intake is under the gunwale so not much to do there. Would a manifold blanket and a turbo blanket do anything or is it the injectors and pump that create most of the noise (aside from exhaust obviously)? The main noise that I hear is the turbo whine but the whole thing is loud in general. Thanks!!!

Any update on this? Trying to quiet this baby down a bit. Turbo silence ring for this motor? Thanks.

See attached photos. Previous owner installed 1″ thick souddown (or similar) to all hatches and bulkheads, this boat doesn’t have a bulkhead between engine and fwd bilge. I just ordered some 80 mil similar material to do the flange around the engine box, I would imagine a lot of that sound is reverberating from the insulation and escaping from the flange?

Does the 6bta have a turbo silencer ring installed? If not can I add one or is there a reason not to do it on a marine turbo?

    Thanks!!

In these pics is the product used by the Albin factory. Is yours the same? Do post pictures of YOUR setup.

    What year is your 28TE?

Albin did offer an extra sound package that insulated the cockpit deck forward of the fuel tank, port & starboard hatch covers, engine box, both sides of the bulkhead between the engine bilge compartment & pilot house bilge compartment side to side port to starboard on both sides, cabin bulkhead, pilot house deck, center hatch cover and inside the helm & companion seat pedestals.

Lift the hatch and lets see what you have.. There are many types of sound insulation..
