qsb 5.9 305 single engine 1300 hours, when cold at start up (ambient temp 80 degrees)a slight fuel sheen is noted on the water….customer advices he smells the fuel, after appox. two minutes its gone and doesn’t come back even after a trip. Ran a diagnostic including cylinder drop out and all is good. Possible fuel nozzle issue? I do know he always operates the vessel around 1400-1500 RPM and indicates coolant temp. is 176 degrees, no smoke while cruising or at Full Load for one minute.

Anyone run into a similar issue.Ā

1st thing I do because you engine is already derated from at least 380HP,Ā  is to spend more time above 2200-2400Ā  RPM to clean things up better.. A few minutes each trip may help a lot..Ā  Do that for a few months and report back.
