    Hello –

Performed my first aftercooler maintenance today – the aftercooler was purchased from Seaboard two years ago and the boat has been mostly in fresh water.

I noticed water on the air side in the pipe coming from the turbo and upon disassembly I found the fins wet. As noted on the site the turbo side was black. Is this normal condensation from the hot turbo air or do I need to investigate the source of the water.

I have sbmar boost and egt gauges installed and the last time I ran the boat at WOT 2960 RPM EGT 800 Boost about 28 #.

    Pictures of the Core attached.

    Thanks for help in advance.

Because of what they “looked like”.. I’ve seen New aftercoolers look worse because they were assembled DRY at the factory..

Tony, are saying his AC’s could have gone two more years because of the freshwater environment? I ask because I was going to take mine to you guys for a two year service. I’m in saltwater. Thanks and let me know.

    Two things:

    1) Your aftercooler could have gone 2 more years before servicing

    2) Read this: https://www.sbmar.com/articles/aftercooler-condensation-a-different-way-to-look-at-air/
