June 8, 2023 at 1:22 pm Have all the parts and have been diligently reading many posts regarding the exhaust manifold issue and replacement. My vessel is a 2003 Novatec 55 engine hours ~3200. The first time the manifolds have been replaced as best I can tell from previous owner service records. (I have to do some RPM to Fuel Burn tests but wife had surgery so IĀ“m shorebound for the next few weeks.) Great time to get some major items off the checklist.<br /><br…

January 28, 2021 at 1:33 pm Greetings, 2003 QSM11’s (635HP) with ~3000 hrs. Original coolant pumps. A few questions regarding the coolant system that I could use some guidance on… Thanks in advance. I never see any coolant under the engines, however, I do get a little when I touch the pump weep hole and, as you can see in the picture, the paint under the pump is discolored / peeling which to my novice eyes appears to be happening because coolant is dripping…

June 7, 2021 at 5:44 pm Tim, I am about to drain the coolant on my QSM11s for the first time. So your pictures 1, 3, and 4 of your ā€œPort Cooler fitting without turning valveā€ file, is that the coolant drain? Where you able to connect a hose? How did things work out?

March 1, 2019 at 12:25 pm Greetings experts, Removed my airseps for cleaning (first time on relatively new to me vessel) and found a piece missing from the port turbo fan (correct term??). See attached. No idea how long it has been like this but previous owner was diligent in all service so figure it may have happened in the past year. Have not noticed any vibrations or unusual sounds. Need your thoughts on the following: 1 I see there is a nut that seems to be the …

May 4, 2018 at 6:31 am Greetings, My 2003 QSM11’s have a bonding wire attached to a bolt that holds the belt cover in place at the front of the engines. It is on the outside so makes contact with the metal flange running across the bottom front. I am having new battery chargers installed which require connection of a safety ground wire that connects the charger case to DC ground. (for some reason the old ones did not have a safety ground wire – probab…

May 6, 2018 at 8:54 am My negative wire from the starter is wired directly back to the battery, not to the engine block. That is the correct way.. To avoid current flow thru the block. Tony

October 22, 2017 at 9:50 am 2003 QSM11 635HP in 55′ Novatec motor yacht that we purchased in Feb. STB engine temps fine, Port Engine temp has been fine running at <10kt but was creeping past 190F when going on plane while STB remained around 175F so I backed down and decide it was time for a flush. Conducting my first (for me) raw water cooling system flush. All went well with STB engine. Went to remove the impeller from Port engine and was shocked to find burn…
