2 years ago December 15, 2021 at 8:48 am I was 80 miles offshore fishing for swordfish yesterday. Mid-day we had a fish on and I tried to bump the port engine forward. The throttle responded to the lever, but the transmission did not shift from neutral to forward. I ran up to the tower and took control there, and experienced the same. Port control lever did not engage forward on port transmission. ZF electronic control units in engine room did not show any codes. Reverse worked …

Acid flush raw water side of cooling system

3 years ago March 18, 2020 at 7:03 am I’d like to flush my QSM11 raw water cooling system with RydLyme once I put the boat back in the water. Is the procedure as simple as: Remove zincs. Reinstall zinc holder bolts without zinc. Close raw water intake seacock. Detach point where cooling raw water would be discharged through exhaust. 8 RepliesSeptember 16, 2020 at 5:53 am Kopptain, One more thought. Do you have a cooling line running from one of your coolers (gear oil cooler for example) to a dripless shaft seal? If so, that is where your water is going. That line should be taken off and plugged to avoid this (if that is the case).Last Post by:

I believe it’s time for me to change the fluid in the transmissions. I purchased the boat with 350 hours on it, and the mechanic that has been maintaining the engines, transmissions etc told me that the transmissions contained a specific oil to help during the break in period. Display QSM11 Data on Garmin 8600 MFDs

Is there an adapter available to add QSM11 data to the network? How about data from an Onan MDKAV generator? I don’t currently have data from my generator displayed anywhere. Thanks, Jeremy

3 RepliesMay 6, 2020 at 10:48 am Yeah you have what’s called Cummins OEM architecture. It’s not easy to bridge this data to NMEA as the data protocol is NOT the current J1939 standar protocol, but rather SAE J1708. You need to search the Internet for a J1708 to NMEA 2000 translator, then piggy back on the wires going into the back of the screens to FEED the data to the translators you source. December 13, 2019 at 3:08 pm I have twin QSM11 670s in my 44′ express sportfish. I have owned the boat for one year. I put 400 hours on the engines in the last year, and total hours are now 750. The turbo on the port side cracked in August and I had it replaced. I understand that I need to reduce the heat generated at cruising speed. July 15, 2019 at 1:16 pm I have a 44′ express boat with a second set of controls in the tower. Twin 2005 QSM11 670s with ZF transmissions. When I take control of the boat up in the tower the shift/throttle controls work fine. After an hour or so the controls glitch. I only control the boat from the tower while I am trolling.
