June 24, 2017 at 4:41 pm This was discovered on my boat today. Port engine turbo. Any idea what the problem could be/how to repair if possible?
7 RepliesNovember 13, 2020 at 7:47 pm Rick — were there torque specs when resetting the bolts on the cover plate?

Load at Idle in Neutral?
This topic has 5 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated by 5 years ago
August 21, 2018 at 6:58 am 2004 QSC540s with the Diesel View displays showing 24% load on the port engine and 19% load on the starboard at idle in neutral. Also noticed fuel burn was worse than usual. What could be causing such a load in neutral at idle?
5 RepliesAugust 22, 2018 at 6:26 am Also I’m not sure about the prop shafts spinning. Didn’t check for that when I was on the boat. If they were spinning it would have been very slowly since I was anchored with the engines on all day (didn’t want to risk a battery failure before I have that figured out) and would have noticed if they were spinning enough to move the boat.

Cap with >15psi?
This topic has 4 replies, has 2 voices, and was last updated by 7 years ago
April 8, 2017 at 11:46 pm Possibly losing some coolant on stbd engine, QSC 540. Ā Some residue around the cap. Ā One suggestion has been to increase the psi of the cap from the 15 psi to 17-18 psi. Ā Would that increase the risk of other problems? Cap on there now is new.
4 RepliesApril 9, 2017 at 7:38 pm Ok next time on the boat I’ll take pics. Ā The problem is stbd engine every now and then loses coolant. Ā Some trips not an ounce is lost, and other trips close to a quart. Ā No correlation with running the engines hard or not. Ā Both caps are new but I can try switching.
