August 2, 2020 at 11:30 am Hi Tony and all, I have a question regarding the connection of the hydraulic lines coming from the gear (ZF gear to the oil cooler on a Cummins QSB 6.7). I have a leak at the supply line connection to the gear cooler. I have 1/2 inch male-male coupling which has a tapered thread for the hose and a strait thread for the gear cooler and it is the strait thread that is leaking. I have tried Rectorseal 5 but it still leaks. The strait thread of …

August 3, 2020 at 6:57 pm Things like this used to be simple.. No longer——————-Enter a “just of of school” couch engineer.. Now you are dealing with STORM fittings / threads on the gear oil cooler.. In your case, 22mm STORM—-“STRAIGHT THREAD O-RING METRIC”. The “sensor ports” as 14MM STORM. December 12, 2018 at 2:09 pm On the SB Marine website, Tony has a pressure drop article which results in a pressure drop of .4ā€ HG for a 20 foot run of Ā½ inch fuel line. I am coming up with the same number, roughly. My boat is very similar to the example, ie about 20 feet, new build, Cummins 325 HP, 32 foot Holland. I donā€™t understand why I should increase to 5/8 line over 15 feet per the article. If I am changing fuel filters at 10ā€ HG, it is such a small fractional gai…

December 15, 2018 at 8:18 am So why increase? .4″ Hg is nothing to worry about. And realize, that is at 60 GPH–What are you really flowing? If your tank lever in higher than the filters, then it will even be less. Do you have actual “field measurements”, or we still on the “drawing board”…. The gist of this article is make owners aware of how “it all interacts” , not to make one go up in fuel line ID for no reason. …
