May 21, 2020 at 6:19 pm I would like to install an exhaust temperature sensor for my 6bts. I’ve seen the borel band sensors and the smx one. I am completely new to doing this. What would you recommend and where should I mount it? If better photos are needed, please let me know. Thank you

May 25, 2020 at 6:05 am Look at these two options – Way faster response than a Borel unit that needs to sense thru the hose. The top one (hose mount) looks ideal

March 10, 2019 at 11:02 am Hi all, Im replacing the front seal on my 6bt. Im getting everything off and cleaned up then gonna have the boatyard reseal it so I know its done right. Got a small leak. I noticed rust on a pulley, looked at the tech stuff on the site and I guess its the water pump. Im thinking I should replace it?

    • 6BTA 5.9 Fuel Burn Table

November 2, 2018 at 4:59 pm Hi all, I just joined as I recently closed on a boat with twin 6BTAs and I found this data sheet for fuel burn, but it seems very optimistic. https://www.sbmar.com/docs/performance-curves/6BTA%20%5B370,3000,2208,HO,Dec%2000,M-90034%5D.pdf Does anyone have real world fuel consumption at various rpms? I have speed and rpm for the boat from the sea trial, but Iā€™m looking to match that with gph for fuel consumption. Thanks all.

December 21, 2018 at 10:05 am Not the same hull, but a deep V heavy planing hull with the same 370s. I spin up to 3150-3200 fully loaded, clean bottom. I cruise at 2400 RPM, at around 25 MPH (I don’t use knots, sorry) Until my fuel dock was destroyed in Irma, i filled up every trip on the way home. I can’t give you burn numbers at cruise only, but my runs offshore usually put me in a combined avg burn rate of 1.4-1.7 MPG. Keep in mind I have short runs to fish…
