April 3, 2022 at 11:56 am Yet again another question everyone. These wires are wired directly to batteries.Ā

talking about the white abs black wiresĀ 1) what are they for 2) do they need constant power or can I run to my panel on my blue seas bar

This topic has 10 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated by 2 years ago
March 18, 2022 at 4:57 pm So I decided to do a full service in my qsc engines. Started as just after coolers, then found a leak in my coolant on heat exchangers so decided to do the same pull and clean process for them. lots of work but well worth it I think. Anyways just want to know how these look to you guys. Iām looking at the cores and am unsure if this like gap in the metal is normal? It looks like itās Mwant to be that way. Also the pipes I am wondering why they l…

March 11, 2022 at 6:20 pm So someone told me my turbo shouldnāt look like this. 2011 qsc 8.3 with 1200 hours. This one was slightly stuck from sitting few months I think? Literally tapped it with a screw driver and it spins freely. Cause for concerns? Also is there any maitance or cleaning that can be done for turboĀ

This topic has 4 replies, has 4 voices, and was last updated by 2 years ago
April 29, 2021 at 5:50 am Looking for advice and technical videos on doing some of this work as most I have not (but I am handy and once I see I can do) So far what I did was: Changed impellers Changed belts Oil change & filter Fuel filter change Over the winter I changed the engine zincs and made sure all port holes and faces of aftercoolers and heat exchangers were open and free of barnacles or anything. Question here, should I run anything through the system to cl…
4 RepliesMay 1, 2021 at 6:57 pm I’m not sure there is a 1,000 hour service and I’d guess there isn’t. Just looking at the end of the AC cores means nothing. You need to remove them, clean them, lube back up and assemble. You can do this yourself, if you get a little luck. Because if you don’t, when it comes time that you need to remove them, you might not be able to. So do that every 2-3 yrs. religiously. What trans do you have btw? Regardless of t…

May 10, 2019 at 6:04 am So in this picture youāll see a white and a black wire. Iām assuming they are coming from the SIM module? If not what is it? But my main question is, these are connected directly to my battery…should they be, or should they connect somewhere else?? Iād rather have nothing connected to my batteries if I donāt have to other than the engine and battery charger thanks guys Cummins qsc8.3 600hp

April 28, 2019 at 4:04 pm Boat 98 Blackfin 33 Combi Engines twin qsc 8.3 600hp each Zf tranny 1) I noticed some black algae at bottom of my raycor bowls this spring when I changed my fuel filters. I ran a lot of fuel last season driving boat back up from NC to NY and several trips and never changed them. I know this was bad, but didnāt have any issues or power loss. Raycors were dark brown when I changed them out, guessing some black algea is normal?? If not what should …
3 RepliesApril 29, 2019 at 6:12 am If you want to keep you existing setup I’d add this filter in front of it. Easy install and way easier down the road than doing a full service on the Racor https://www.sbmar.com/product/3-premium-extra-duty-bulk-separator-kit-fs19513/ Port side is LH prop so sounds like prop is spinning in reverse…

November 21, 2018 at 6:31 am ok so just curios on is there anything i need to grease on these engines ever? i have qsc8.3l 600hp? if so any particular type of grease? also i have ZF transmissions. i notice there is a small filter on them? is there any videos on changing the oil for these on where to drain and how to fill and changing that filter? zincs, i need to order from tony, what sizes are they? i found two websites giving me different size specs for zincs and should i…
3 RepliesNovember 22, 2018 at 3:57 am Chris, learn to use the search function on the sbmar main site, Corey puts hours and hours into making the site what it is today. A simple search term of “qsc zinc” finds you the two attached images for the QSC zincs As to the gear, I asked for “exact model”…. you don’t go to the parts counter and tell them you need an oil filter for a Chevy… we are all here to help but please help us help you.

November 17, 2018 at 4:29 pm So Iām trying to figure out easiest way to perform oil change. My qsc do not have the oil changing pump installed. What part can I buy to make this job quicker and cleaner? Also any tips or tricks on pricing and What not

I have the the Jabsco bucket mounted pump portable oil changer for when gravity is not on your side…

Qsc8.3 block heater

November 14, 2018 at 7:27 am Which wolverine model should I use to heat my oil pan for easy start during winter months. I was planning on using the pan heater instead of block heater…unless you recommend block heater instead… Also what is proper placement of both items…meaning how do you attach the oil pan heater to the oil pan And Where is the block heater get placed (if I go with this option)
1 ReplyNovember 14, 2018 at 8:50 am So I just went through these options last month. Per Tony’s advice, this is what I did I have 6cta 480CE 8.3 He recommended the wolverine 250 watt version. The more I got to thinking about it the less I wanted ” Block heaters ” especially high wattage ones. It’s not really cold enough for me to be using these but I did leave them on overnight and WOW, the entire oil pan is VERY warm and that heats just rises. As for inst…

4 RepliesOctober 23, 2018 at 6:24 am If you store the boat in the water for the winter it is extremely important to make sure your Zinc’s are in good condition, are of sufficient quantity, and are properly grounded. If your boat is plugged into shore power it’s more than likely one of only a few around which means your boat will be less likely to share the burned of returning stray current back to ground. Essentially you anodes may/will decay much faster potentially lea…
