      December 29, 2021 at 5:44 am Installed one year ago on a 38 Wesmac bridge Downeaster. Multiple issues with control panels, shut off switches, the ECM module (replaced twice) – all covered under warranty but a lot of downtime. Charter boat, Ā 800 hours, always ran boat 60% +/- load, probably 500 of these hours drifting, 600-700 rpmā€™s. Current issue – aft starboard oil leak, plus HIGH metal content via most recent oil analysis. CAT has not yet looked at oil leak, a…

      January 2, 2022 at 8:29 pm Yes, in their hands really, one person versus large corporation. You have given me more data to fight the fight, ā€œwhy did you ok the engine when it didnā€™t meet your guidelines etcā€. Even with replacement engine, still have that base design, so still need to pitch down and baby her, which I think I do anyways. Long odds to get replacement, but if they give me 4 more years warranty at least that covers repair costs, but not downtime. Iā€™ll keep doc…

      May 10, 2017 at 4:01 am Cummins 6cta, 1997 Ran engine on the hard for 15 minutes prior to launch, no issues. Ran day before launch, high temp gage pegged over to far right, alarm light and siren go on, after running for two minutes. Shut it down, stated up again, all ok. Launch next day, fine for ten minutes, then gage pegged over, etc etc. Gage does not creep slowly to right, as if temp was rising slowly, but just buries itself fast.       June 2, 2017 at 4:29 pm Rich, If you want a “real” temp alarm you should consider a 205F temp switch and an Aqualarm or Borel alarm panel to wire it to. Very easy to do and you won’t have to rely on the Cummins factory panel alarm algorithm to save an engine.
