    Hello!

After rebuilding a 6bta5.9 330 I noticed that the ZF220A gear is making a knocking noise when in forward or reverse at idle speed but it dissipates when the engine a little over idle speed (about 900/1000 rpm). No noise in neutral at any RPM. The noise seems to come from the forward side of the gear, almost from the bellhousing.

    Difference?

You torsional coupling that connects the engine to the gear in failing.. Plenty has be posted about this over the years as to this issue here and on other forums
