    Hi guys,

Attached below is a picture of the expansion tank to my 6BTA 270 engine. What (3) holes should I use to mount the tank to the cylinder head bolt holes. I put the tank up to the cylinder head and it looks like multiple holes can be used to mount the tank. I’m not sure which ones should be used.

    Thanks,

    Pat

Designed for 3-bolts………One is behind the idler bracket–tough to get to..

One may be part of the belt guard bracket–Can’t remember.

Thanks Rob. I appreciate the information. It’s a pain in the pass putting this engine together when it was purchased totally disassembled…

Looks like 20’s and maybe the reason QSOL is showing 2 bolts, not 3, is that the 3rd bolt is part of the belt guard detail..

    Hi Guys,

Yeah, it’s a standard mounted turbo.

I have the same tank as the one in your picture. It looks like that one can be mounted higher if needed.

Quickserve doesn’t really have a good part schematic of the expansion tank. Does it call for (3) bolts to secure the tank to the head and what size are the bolts? M8 x 1.25 x 20 or 25’s?

    Thanks,

    Pat

Looks standard like what Tony and I posted. So just use the set of holes that gets the tank as high as clearance will allow and be sure it’s the highest point in the cooling system. This is for a standard rear mount turbo, not high mount, right?

    B series Expansion Tank Mounting

    Pat,

If you have a choice and the spitter-lines allow it, mount the tank as high up as the 3 bolt holes allow, especially on the JWAC engine…On many custom installs when we have the height, we weld an extension bracket to allow even more height.

Look at the pic and see if that helps……..

Your pic did not post. Maybe this pic will help? The top right bolt with the missing spray paint outline is for the belt guard.
