    Hey,

    First time posting in this forum and I hope someone can help. I am working on a fireboat and the mission is to replace the fire pump with a hydraulic pump to power a crane. I need some guidance to ensure that this is capable with the specs we have. Here’s a breakdown of what I am working with:

    Engine = Detroit 16V92A, 1100bhp @ 2100 rpm

    Trans. = Twin Disc M6-530M, single reduction omega control

    Clutch = Eaton-Fawick 12CB350, duel pneumatic clutch, 450 hp @ 1800 rpm

    Fire Pump = Goulds Model 3410, single stage centrifugal

    Hydraulic Pump = 564 Sunfab – double piston, max speed 1600 rpm, max pressure 5076 psi

    Crane = HIAB 200-C4, flow 18.5 – 23.8 gpm, power 52.3 – 68.4 hp, pressure 4130 psi.

    I am wondering if this can be possible to accomplish. I am aware I need a PTO to do this successfully. Dont have much experince with the marine field so looking for guidance. Thanks!

    This is “Serious Hydraulics” with will require a lot of engineering on both the hyd side and the conversion/proper set on of the HIGH HP 12V-92TA propulsion engine ……… My guess is you bought the engine for a song ( I hope) and if it is in good condition, it could easily do the “job” at well below 1800 RPM..I know the engine well as to what it can do, and what itĀ  cannot d0 ..Ā

    Regardless, this would be typically above the paygrade ” of the Cummins guys that hang out here ( unless we have a “hyd guy” hidingĀ  that I do no know about) ……………………… Drop me a note off-line and I’ll introduce you to my “in-house” full time Hydraulic engineer,Ā  Tim Von Rader..
