    Hello to all.
I am looking to move my “ Last Chance filter “ on my port engine to an easier access remote location.
    My question is :
Do I need to maintain the same hose connections ? IE: filter downstream of the fuel pump ?
Or can I plumb it in upstream ( inlet side of fuel pump ) ?

Thanks in advance for the help,
    Rick

Yes your thinking is generally correct……………For a primary, mostly any name brand quality fuel oil or Hyd filter spin-on in the 30-50 Mic will do if it is rated for a flow rate of 100 GPH or so.. A water drain is a nice feature.. .. As to your secondary, nothing less than that what replaces a Fleetguard FS 1000 and you are is good shape for 1000’s of hours on a new FF5285..

A genuine FS1000 (FS1009) is the final “last chance” fuel filter on a QSM 11 715, just to give you an idea of the quality of fuel it delivers and its flow capability..

    Thanks

Thanks to all that replied !
I am going to follow Tony’s advice and upgrade my “ Off engine filtration “.
Presently I only have a 30 micron primary off engine with the FF 5285 last chance filter.
Is my thinking correct to install a 30 micron and a 10 micron “ Off engine “ and then continue with the FF5285 “ On engine “ last chance filter ?

    All help is much appreciated,

    Rick

    Hi Guys ,
Sorry, but to semi hijack the thread..
I run a 10 mic 2020 Racor then a 2 mic 2020 Racor. Could the filter on a QSC be extended in hours like you have suggested?

    thanks Luke

Yes.. The filter needs to be on the pressure side of the pump… But you can remote mount it……………….But to me it’s much easier to put the right filtration before it “off the engine”.. Then you probably never have to change in again for 2000-3000 hours..

Ours is between lift pump and injector pump. If the lift pump starts spitting bits out at least the Last chance catches them..
