    Tony,

I have new QSM11 with 70 hours that was put into service Sept 2016.  On a recent visual inspection I noticed a little soot near the manifold.  Does the attached photo tell you anything or look like a Leak?  Best one I could get and only place a saw some soot.

    Warranty ?

Scott, Is she  still covered under warranty?  Yes or no, this appears to be a common enough issue that some assistance from Cummins may be worth an attempt…

    Scott,

All you can really do is keep  an eye on it and keep the mess cleaned up.. Too bad Cummins came out with such a piss poor design..70 hours and you all ready have a leak..  As to your engine loading, you are on the upper edge of where I like to see them run and if you vessel in fast enough burning under 16.5 GPH, consider moving the “under 16.5 GPH” up  2000 RPM  Keeps things munch cooler inside those foil covers.

    Rob,

Yes I’ve seen that.  Understand I have to stay in the prop curve and the boat burns about 16 gph @ 1850 RPM.  So I think I’m good there.  Only thing I don’t have is a way to monitor EGT.
