What is “Seaboard” recomendations for servicing all the coolers on sea water coolers on engine?

    Use boat 3 months a year, 400 hrs/yr. QSB 480 , Seaboard set up.

    Heat exchanger

    Aftercooler ( read 1-2 years)

    Fuel cooler

    Gear cooler

Or should they all be done at same time?

    Thanks in advance!

Gotcha. Ā Well then we know the aftercooler started it’s life with proper servicing as the Seaboard way is to re-assemble the factory assembly per Tony’s protocol. Ā Based on that and the high usage and f/w flushing for any “at the dock” time I’d bet you’re a-okay for another season. Ā My recommendation would be to pull the sea water hoses on the varoius coolers and look at the passages, and see if all are clean clean and then decide from there. Ā Location is another factor as to “marine crud” in the passages so that I cannot comment on without the visuals..

I believe this is your engine/gear:

I repowered 2 years ago and purchased engine/gear etc for SBMAR, under Tony and crews guidance. Ā Ā

Been running 2 summers now, total of 800 hrs.

When boat is in water, it doesn’t sit long, if going to sit more the a day or 2, do fresh water flush.

Haven’t done any maintenance yet on cooling side ( beside zincs, impellers etc) and seeing what should do before launch this year!

I need to try and get some time to post about the repower here…Ā

    Hello Gary,

400 hrs in 3 months of use, that is nice!

What do you mean by “Seaboard set up”

There is no one size fits all as to the required interval of seawater side maintenance…. a few questions:

    Fresh or salt water?

If salt, is it fresh water flushed?

What is the history of the engines, your ownership of the vessel, Ā and any prior seawater side servicing?
