I have a friend that has C7 Cats in his pleasure vessel. He is having a few issues, which is of course unpleasant. However, the most unpleasant component is that he is, I believe, receiving poor service from the mechanics he has chosen. He is new to all of this and really does not know any better.
I do try to help him, but I am no expert. My experience is limited to my time with my QSB Cummins and what I have learned from this (and predecessor) forum.
I am not fighting his battle, but my problem is that he really is new at this, and I believe the mechanics are taking advantage of the situation. Instead of providing advice and teaching moments, they are taking his money, with their response to problems that have come up to be “it happens”.
Sure, he can get someone else to work on the boat, but he does not know where to start. I don’t know anyone that is really good with Cats, so I don’t know how to help him move this along either. If anyone has any ideas for some good people, please forward them my way. By getting him some alternatives, I am just trying to keep someone in boating.
Thanks in advance for your help.
