    Hello forum,

I’m sharing this with all as a friendly reminder to try and keep up with marine age with your boats and engines.

The attached pics are of my 6BTA 370. A new Recon from Tony back in Jan 2013. I installed the 370 in my 25 foot downeast lobster boat. Just under 500 easy hours. I (Tony suggested) under propped the engine to 3250 rpm WOT.

The engine has never been wet or been subject to salt water dripping. What the engine is exposed to is bilge condensation.

OK this is the seventh season from new. 1st pics are Cummins paint flaking or powdering off and the mounts I painted flaking off.

Second set is the belt removed, great condition but I’ll replace for next season.
wire brush and vacuum, ready for a new coat of paint after cleaning up further.

Got to prevent a rust bucket !

    For what’s worth, Bill D

Good reminder to spray a little Boeshield around when at the boat next time.
