Currently I have a set of the older version smartcraft vessel views at the lower helm. I hooked up a second set of vessel view 403s at the upper helm (confirmed with Cummins that the architecture is correct). The startboard 403 displays data, but the port does not (confirmed that the gauges themselves work properly). The MUS ID on the port engine is set up as a slave, and the starboard is set as the master (1, 2 configuration). No matter what I do to program the port 403, it will not display engine data. Please help!!

Jason, send me an email with all of your engine info and a few pics of your dash so I can see how you’re setup and what would be the most compatible system for you to upgrade

Thanks for the reply, Tony! I’m definitely considering switching to a J1939 network. A few questions:

    1. Can I still use my existing smartcraft gauges that are working at the main helm and build a separate J1939 network that will connect to a second set of gauges and my MFD’s, or do I have to replace all components in the system?
    2. Can you point me to a retrofit package to convert to J1939? Is this the correct one: https://www.sbmar.com/product/smartcraft-to-smx-digital-display-upgrade-kit/

Cummins no longer supports Mercury SmartCrap Ā ..Ā  Ā Glitches like this are all to common and although my “Smatcrap Guru”Ā  Corey know this stuffĀ  well, he no longer has the time to deal with it.. Hours & hours of time and many timesĀ  you get zero back..

Contact a Mercury field tech,Ā  or dump it all and go with you your parent Cummins SAE J1939Ā  electronics that is part of your ECMĀ  and has not beenĀ  f-ed with by Mercury
