    Hey Guys,

I have twin QSC 8.3 engines with 1100 hours on my 2005 Sabre 42 and I just found out my starboard engine was missing a bolt that I never noticed before. I usually do an engine check before starting up and noticed exhaust/oil had sprayed out of the missing bolt hole. Thinking it may have vibrated loose, I looked for the bolt but couldn’t find it and took out the adjacent bolt to get a replacement. That is when I realized the missing bolt may have never been installed since paint around the missing bolt was clean! I attached a link to a video of the engine and the spray from the bolt hole and a picture of the area after I removed the adjacent bolt. https://youtu.be/PJUznufxqxg

I was just going to replace the bolt and see how it holds up but I’m concerned the gasket may be compromised. Let me know what you think.

Also, thanks Tony for this forum and I have learned a lot from all of you. I’ve been doing all the maintenance on the engines myself thanks to all the info and tips on this forum and website.

Nice thing about having twin engines is the ability to check and compare things to the other side, that is how I found out the bolt was missing. I’ll replace bolts with Rectorseal #5 and monitor it.

    Thanks Tony!

Just replace the missing bolt.. Coat the bolt(s) with Rectorseal #5.

Recheck them all– Get everything “spic & span” and you should be fine.. ..

Maybe check the other side too?
