I have a 6BTA5.9M, Control Parts list: 2208 engine in my new to me boat.  I am trying to line up all the maintainence jobs and parts for this upcoming season.  I notice that on the recommended maintainence list are the following:

    • Coolant Filter – Change
    • Engine Coolant Heater – Check
    • Component Connector and Pin – Inspect

I am sorry, but does this engine have a coolant filter?  If so where is it?

Also, is the engine coolant heater the thermostat?

And lastly, what is the component connector and pin?

    Thanks for you patience!

You do not have a coolant filter

Who is guiding you on your list this “maintenance things to do”, especially since this is a new boat for you and most likely don’t have much real history or what’s been done as to the things that “really matter”.. You do know the entire seawater side on your engine is its “Life Blood” as  I often refer to it….. No mention of it????.
