Took off my aftercooler for a cleaning, not too bad but covered in soot and oil….
    Is this normal? See pic.
    It’s a Cummins 6BTA 250 hp, 5.9 liter
Also need a gasket for it and can’t find it anywhere on the web site.
    Thanks!!

How many engine hours since it was last cleaned, spic and span, if ever? No blockage, just a film coating or such, right? Does not look alarming to me. Any other signs of issues of soot in the engine room – such as on cold surfaces, air filter? How about oil residue – air filter, turbo air inlet? Are you up to snuff as to engine room ventilation and a good working CCV system? Any good engine and engine room pics to share?
